Man Arrested With Eight Live Rounds Pistol In Waterloo

Alimamy Kargbo a mobile phone technician  on Monday 30th October 2023 sentenced to four years imprisonment after he pleaded guilty to the offence of unlawful possession of a pistol with eight live rounds without licence.

The convict prior to his sentencing was standing trial before Magistrate Ngegba of Court No.1 on four counts charges ranging from possession of arms without licence, having in custody of small arms without licence, unlawful concealment of arms and keeping a greater number of small arms without licence all contrary to the laws of Sierra Leone.

According to the indictment, the accused Alimamy Kargbo on Sunday 1st October 2023, at the Waterloo Kono Park Waterloo judicial district in the Western Area was found in possession of one black HELLAI pistol with serial number BB 205218 (9×9) spring held armoury without licence or lawful authority.

It was further alleged that the accused on the same date and place was found keeping the said pistol with its magazine containing eight live rounds cartridges without licence or lawful authority.

The convict made his first appearance in court on the 12th October 2023, and when the charges were read and explained to him by the clerk, he pleaded guilty.

Magistrate Ngegba in his ruling has sentenced the convict to one year imprisonment each on all four counts charges to be run consecutively.

The convict Alimamy Kargbo made four appearances in court before his conviction and had been in prison since then with no legal representation made on his behalf.

Police  Sergeant 9939 Lahai. M prosecuted the matter on behalf of the Inspector General of police.
