Former ECSL Boss in Court
By Fatima Sesay
The former Chief Electoral Commissioner of Sierra Leone, Mohamed N’fah Alie Conteh, has taken his wife, Agnes Shella Kumba Conteh, to court in a private civil matter. The case is currently before Justice Cosmotina Jarrett at the High Court in Freetown. Mr. Conteh, the applicant, filed the lawsuit, which is understood to stem from a personal dispute between the couple. However, the specific allegations have not yet been presented, as the defendant—Mrs. Conteh—was absent during the court proceedings. During the hearing, Mr. Conteh was present, but his wife was not. Her lawyer informed the court that she is currently outside the jurisdiction. Due to her absence, the lawyer requested an adjournment in order to apply for substituted service—a legal procedure used when an individual cannot be personally served with court documents. Justice Jarrett granted the application and adjourned the matter to Tuesday, May 13, 2025, when the court is expected to consider the request for substituted service.
