Report reaching this medium has indicated that children in Manan Afiya Village in Falaba District, North-Region of the Republic of Sierra Leone have not benefitted from the Free Quality Education (FQE), which is the flagship program of the ruling SLPP led government.
On behalf of the residents of Manan village, the head of the Fullah-Community Organization in Falaba District, Mr. Billor Barrie has registered the frustrations of these children who felt ostracized by the government of Sierra Leone.
‘’These children are not pleased with the constraints they have faced with to benefit from the Free Quality Education,” said Mr. Barrie, adding by appealing to His Excellency President Julius Maada to establish learning facilities in the village. Mr. Barrie further appealed to international organizations to come to the aid of these children who have no learning facility in their locality.
“We want the government and humanitarian organizations to swiftly help our children with school facilities so they too can be empowered and be useful citizens in society,” Barrie stated, adding that, since the village was discovered, they have received no educational support on behalf of their people; especially their children who are languishing as a result of lack of educational facilities. He further disclosed that they have made numerous requests to government and donor partners to construct schools and hospitals for their community, but all have fallen on deaf ears.
One of the children expressed his gratitude to Mr Barrie for assembling them in an open field to reach out to the government of Sierra Leone for the construction of schools in their village.
Mamadi Abdulai Barrie, further appealed on behalf of his colleagues for the speedy intervention of the government.
The Youth leader of Seydenkia village Umaru Bah also called on the government of Sierra Leone to support the children, adding that, by so doing the village will produce eminent citizens.
