NASSIT Holds Its Annual Employers Banquet & Awards Ceremony

As part of its efforts to motivate its staff across the country, the National Social Security and Insurance Trust (NASSIT) has on Thursday 8th February 2024, has held its annual Employers’ Banquet and Awards Ceremony at the Bintumani Conference Center in Freetown.

The chairman of this auspicious event, Mr. Kobi Walker who is the current Chairman of the National Petroleum commended the management of NASSIT for organizing the event, adding by describing NASSIT as the most trusted institution in Sierra Leone that is supporting the work of government in creating enviable developmental activities in the country. Mr. Worker also applauded all institutions especially the private sector for supporting the work of NASSIT by paying their staff contributions. He further called for more institutions to collaborate with NASSIT in supporting the work of government.

On his part, the Deputy Director General of NASSIT, Mr. Gbondo noted that this is the fourth annual Banquet and Awards Ceremony they are organizing for their staff. He continued by stating that, the issue of social security is globally statutory and he referenced Article 23 of the Human Right and NASSIT Act of 2005, emphasizing that, it is a violation of right if an employer fails to pay contribution for its staff.

The Director General of NASSIT, Mr. Mohamed Fuaad Daboh disclosed that the ceremony was organized to celebrate their customers for their unwavering support towards their mandate, stating further that, the award ceremony is specifically organized to interact with their partners and show appreciation to them for being law-abiding to their mandate. He assured their partners that they will remain consistence with their work.   He thanked everyone that are supporting their work including; their partners, staff and the Judiciary.

The Minister of Trade and Industry, Mr. Alpha stated that he is very elated to be part of the ceremony. He assured NASSIT that they will continue to give their unflinching support to them. He commended NASSIT for its support toward the building of the Sewa Ground Market which is nearly completed. He added that, the Sewa Ground market will help to end the issue of street trading in the country. He concluded by assuring NASSIT that they will continue to work together in transforming the nation by creating visible facilities in the country.

The Minister of Labour & Social Security, Honorable Rado Swaray in his statement, commended NASSIT for their immense contribution to the nation. He added that, over twenty years now, NASSIT has been established and has remained the last man standing in terms of seeking the welfare of workers in the country after their retirement. He continued by stating that the banquet and award ceremony is a demonstration of the continued success and commitment of NASSIT supporting Sierra leoneans.

‘’Social Security is a human right issue for everyone,’’ concluded Mr. Swaray.
