Read his message below:
My dear esteemed Cobains,
It is with great pleasure and privilege that I take this opportunity to present my credentials and my fidelity to this august gathering and to declare my intention to contest for the Presidency of our great Association, Christ the King College Old Boys Association (COBA).
Christ the King College (CKC) and COBA have been an integral part of my history and culture, and for over two decades, I have not only been a committed member but have served this great Alumni with dedication, commitment and every sense of purpose.
In the course of my journey, I have been privileged to serve five successive Presidents in various capacities as Public Relations Officer, Secretary General and now Vice President. Throughout this tenure, I have supported various team members and contributed to transforming our Association into a centre of attraction for many.
During my years of service, we have together achieved the following:
- Membership Mobilization
COBA has experienced a great surge in membership; we have been able to cut across generations and make COBA more visible and attractive. Today, COBA has Chapters in almost every district in the country, and in every continent in the world.
- Infrastructural Development
Over the years, our different Executives have been able to mobilize support from individual Cobians, Chapters, Organizations and Well-wishers to give a facelift to our alma mater. The CKC school compound is now a works yard, as every hand is on deck to change the infrastructure of our campus. In these few years, of our leadership a lot has been achieved including:
a). Re-introduction of the single shift system
b). Renovation of the Assembly Hall to fully air-conditioned edifice
c). A refurbished Physics, Chemistry and Biology laboratories
d). Reconstruction of an ultra-modern volleyball and lawn tennis courts and many more.
- c) procurement of a brass band for the school
- d) procurement of 34 acres of land the school is currently occupying etc.
- COBA Souvenirs
Identity is very critical in a rebranding process. In other to give COBA a befitting image and to increase our visibility, the Association has invested in the production and sale of quality souvenir items. This project has not only rebranded COBA and increased its visibility but has also brought income to the Association.
We have all together developed a strong welfare system and our collaboration is increasing.
MANDATE
In light of the foregoing, and consistent with my pedigree of love for CKC and COBA, I kindly seek your mandate to allow me to serve our great community. I am not seeking your mandate in compensation for my service to COBA but rather, I am offering myself to serve this prestigious Alumni Association as an opportunity to give back to the institution and community that have helped shape my thoughts, well-being and destiny.
Having served through the ranks and under five great leaders, I am sure I now have a clear understanding of the workings of the Association- strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats, and I am well positioned within the COBA family to drive the needed change and further development of our revered alumni Association.
My dear Cobians, If elected to this great office, my tenure in office shall focus on the following:
- Peace Building: I’ll engage and consult with all Branches and our elders of the Association to cement the any cracks and build the much-needed formidable Association.
- Re-establishing the Christ the King College Heritage: CKC is a school of traditions built on the value of hard work, academic excellence, integrity and respect for one another. To achieve this, my Executive shall launch and embark on the platinum development projects which will focus on:
- a) Depopulating the School:- the current Teacher to pupil ratio in the school is a cause for concern and needs to be addressed if we are to achieve the desired academic excellence that is akin to CKC .
- b) Construction of a Boarding Home:- this Home is set to accommodate three hundred students and more. As we may be aware, the Boarding home project will provide an opportunity to Cobians outside Bo to send their children/wards to CKC. It again provides an opportunity for a conducive learning and study environment for pupils’ performance to be outstanding in public examinations.
3 An ultra-modern library and a multi-purpose hall:
This project will solidify our quest to improve the learning environment, increase research efficiency among the boys and also an opportunity for investment. The Hall will not only be an assembly for school but will cater for the entire CKC community. An effective management system will be put in place to run this facility and keep its real value. Much more could be achieved, if we remain together.
Against this backdrop, my dear revered Cobians, I kindly call on you all to support this great cause to make CKC and COBA great again.
Long Live CKC!
Long Live COBA!
God Bless us All!!!
