CEO of Focus 247 Newspaper Wins Exceptional Media Award

The Proprietress and Managing Editor of Focus 247 Newspaper, Madam Sia Janga has been awarded with the ‘Exceptional Media Award’ for her exemplary and outstanding contributions to the media in empowering women and promoting issues of women and children.

The award was presented in the presence of a galaxy of dignitaries at home and from the diaspora, including diplomats, political leaders and other distinguished stakeholders.

This category of award, according to Dr. Emmanuel J. M. Stafford the Chief Executive Officer who also doubles as the International Director of the Diaspora Focus disclosed during the ceremony that the category was hotly contested by other nominees who are also top women in the media.  Dr. Stafford added that, the International Committee Board of Diaspora Focus thoroughly looked at the nominees and they finally come into conclusion that the CEO of Focus 247 Newspaper, Madam Sia Janga deserves the award as the ‘Exceptional Female Media Practitioner’ of 2023.

‘’After a thorough nomination process: background check/investigation, debate, etc. You have won the National Development Award (NaDA) 2023,’’ Dr. Stafford announced on stage, her exemplary contribution to the media, especially in the facet of print media as proprietress and Managing Editor of the above-mentioned newspaper need not be over emphasized, hence, members of the public nominated you alongside other top women in the media in Category Five “Exceptional Award”.

He continued by stating that the shortlisting process was painstakingly done by the Award Committee and certified by the International Committee Board (ICB) of Diaspora Focus. He explained further that the Diaspora Focus is an organisation formed in the United Kingdom to advance the cause and welfare of Africans living abroad and returning home to better integrate and contribute meaningfully to their communities and societies as a whole.

Receiving the prestigious award, the CEO of Focus 247 Newspaper, Madam Sia Janga told the audience that her dynamic team and her have been challenged again. She added that, they have been fired up to do more. She assured the audience that she will continue to deliver to the people of Sierra Leone.

‘’Frankly, this moment is incredible and has challenged us to do more at the Focus 247 Newspaper,’’ she stated, adding that, she is happy that her efforts have been acknowledged by those that nominated her.

‘’I want to dedicate this award to my staff for their dedication and team spirit,’’ she said, furthering that, by having this award in our cabin, it will encourage us to do more; more so, it is a token of our past efforts and also a push factor for our future endeavors.
