RSLAF Engineer and Logistics Units on 6 months training…

U.S Embassy Boosts the Military

The U.S. Embassy in Freetown Security Cooperation team, through its contracting partner Triple Canopy, started a six-month long training, divided in six different courses, for 40 Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces (RSLAF) personnel from the Engineer and Logistics Units at the Triple Canopy’s Depot facility in Murray Town, Freetown.

The goal of the training is to provide RSLAF personnel with skills to drive, operate, and maintain heavy-duty equipment in both civilian (as in natural disaster response scenario) and military combat roles.

The first set of course focuses on learning how to drive, operate, and maintain 3-ton forklift trucks until October 31, 2023. Upon successful completion of the training, RSLAF trainees will be able to apply the use of 3-ton forklift trucks through various military and civilian construction projects.

During the opening ceremony event, the Commander of the Joint Force, Major General Dauda Alpha, advised RSLAF trainees to commit their all in the training as this training is a vital capacity tool for the RSLAF. Additionally, the Assistant Chief of Defense Staff for Training and Doctrine, Brigadier General Abu Conteh, from the Ministry of Defense emphasized that training is the oxygen of every military organization and without training a military force will become irrelevant. He also thanked the U.S. Embassy/Government for their continued training assistance of the RSLAF.
