Post Election Dialogue Begins Today
The Mediation Team from ECOWAS, the African Union and other international and local partners will today Monday 16th October 2023, commence the dialogue between the main opposition APC party and the ruling SLPP party.
The arrival of mediators signaled an important phase in the efforts at holding the dialogue between the Government of Sierra Leone and the opposition All People’s Congress party, scheduled for October 16-18 2023.
The dialogue is being facilitated by ECOWAS, AU, and the Commonwealth.
Before now, Mediation Team from ECOWAS, the African Union, Commonwealth and other actors have met with His Excellency President Julius Maada Bio and members of the main opposition APC party and emphasized that dialogue is important African governance process.
The former Vice President of The Gambia, Aja Fatoumata C.M. Jallow-Tambajang, earlier expressed her team’s delight to be in Freetown. She said they were in the country to listen more, get a thorough appreciation of the key issues, and support the process in the best way possible.
His Excellency President Julius Maada Bio and members of the opposition APC party have respectively welcomed the delegation and noted that dialogue was an important hallmark of African governance processes. They gave their unflinching support and blessings to the mediated dialogue as it would signal the launch of the dialogue process which begins today Monday 16th October 2023.
