Tillers Dragged to Court for Theft

Twenty-three years old Shaka Conteh a tiller, twenty-four years old Michael Kargbo a tiller and thirty years old Joseph Conteh a tiller made another appearance before Magistrate Sahr Kekura of Pademba Road Court No.1 in Freetown, for an allegedly theft of one hundred and one thousand new leones.

The accused were arraigned before the court on two count charges; to wit Conspiracy to commit a crime contrary to law, and larceny contrary to section 2 of the Larceny Act of 1916.

According to the particulars of offence, on Monday 12th February 2024, at Black Johnson in the Western Area of Freetown, conspired together and with other person unknown to commit a crime to wit larceny.

On count two, on the above date and place, the accused persons stole one hundred and fifty cartoon tiles value ninety-seven thousand and five hundred Leones(NLE97,500) and ten bags C.T.F Value three thousand five hundred Leones(NLE3,500) all to the total value of one hundred and one thousand Leones (101,000) Property of Obai Kabia.

When the charge was read and explained to the accused persons, they pleaded not guilty.

Counsel representing the accused persons, M.Bangura renewed his previous bail application for and on behalf of the accused persons.

Meanwhile, Magistrate Kekura granted bail to all accused persons in the sum of two hundred thousand new Leones each with two sureties in like sum and both sureties to be gainfully employed in a government institution in Sierra Leone. Sureties to produce the recent NCRA identity card depicting his or her address in Freetown.

Bail to be approved by the Deputy Assistant Registrar. The matter was adjourned to the 22nd March, 2024 for further hearing.
