Failing To Find Hassan Sesay…

Police Detains His Wife

The matter with regards to Hassan Sesay, a lecturer at the Milton Margai Technical University, on allegations of aiding and abetting the escape of the former ADC to the erstwhile President Ernest Bai Koroma, has taken a different turn, as information about his involvement in the recent violent protests in the country has been touted by the police as a fact.

According to police sources, Hassan Sesay’s telephone number was discovered on the phones of 5 suspects arrested and in police custody. They believe that he was supporting the protesters financially and may even be the conduit of funds from the dissident groups abroad to the protesters, and his affiliation with the main opposition party APC, has further reinforced their conviction of his participation in what they described as clandestine activities to incite an uprising in the country.

This, as protests were held prior to the elections on June 24, 2023, which resulted in the deaths of two APC supporters, the police, determined to get at Hassan Sesay, again raided his house and arrested his wife, who they kept in police custody, with the belief that her arrest will force Hassan Sesay to give himself up.

Unfortunately, after beating the wife of Hassan Sesay, while in custody, this did not yield the desired result of getting Hassan to give himself up. So, after weeks in detention, the wife was released. Our source also disclosed that since the release of the wife, the security forces have made several raids in the area and would target Hassan Sesay’s house.

Our Investigation again led us to the police to get clarification on the above issues. It was disclosed that intelligence gathered from those arrested and in police custody is that Hassan Sesay is a member of a notorious blog group known as the TAGMEN, the vuvuzela of the APC, also that he is alleged to be giving information to a famous blogger in Holland, known as Adebayor, who has been very instrumental in getting Sierra Leoneans to protest against the government. Our source furthered that the telephone number of Hassan Sesay was found in the confiscated phones of 5 of the arrested people, now in police custody, hence the urgency for his arrest.

Political analysts say that the alleged offense against Hassan Sesay is tantamount to treason, and if caught, he will face the death penalty. As we go to press, the whereabouts of Hassan Sesay are still unknown, and the police have put a bounty on his head and the other wanted persons.
