Two sailors from Sea Coach Express, Samuel Benjamin Moiba and Alfred Abdul Karim Koroma, have been remanded in prison by Magistrate Sahr Kekura of Pademba Road Court No.1 for allegedly stealing items worth $5,200 USD from a passenger. The accused made their second court appearance on charges of Conspiracy and Larceny under Section 2 of the Larceny Act of 1916. According to the police charge sheet, the accused, on Sunday, February 9, 2025, at Sir Samuel Lewis Road, Aberdeen, Freetown, allegedly conspired with unknown persons to commit larceny. The prosecution further alleged that, on the same date at Sea Coach Express, the accused stole a black suitcase worth $150 USD, a gray Dell laptop, a black Samsung A23 mobile phone, and other assorted items—all totaling $5,200 USD (NLe 124,800)—belonging to Dr. Sheriff Emil Whites, while the items were in the custody of Sea Coach Express management. When the charges were read and explained, the accused did not enter a plea. The police prosecutor, Inspector Kadie Taylor, requested an adjournment to summon witnesses, which was granted by Magistrate Kekura. The accused were remanded in prison, and the case was adjourned to March 17, 2025.
