NGC Youths Blast Yumkella

Dr. Kandeh Yumkella, one of the leading figures in the political landscape of Sierra Leone has reportedly betrayed and abandoned over five thousand youths across the country.

These youths who were so anxious for a change in the political arena, threw their loyalty to Dr. Kandeh Yumkella before, during and after the 2018 and 2023 elections respectively.  Dr. Kandeh Yumkella who was so astute and crafty in canvassing supporters with his ‘Put Salone Fos’ campaign, succeeded in securing or converting over sixty per cent of the youth to join the National Grand Coalition Party (NGC).

Many of these youths were once supporters and members of either the ruling SLPP party or the main opposition APC party.

Some of these disgruntled youths that contacted this medium have registered their frustrations and disappointment over the way and manner Dr. Yumkella allegedly abandoned the cause of the NGC party and seeking a political pay from His Excellency President Julius Maada Bio and the ruling SLPP party as the Chairman of the Special Initiative for Climate Change, Renewable Energy, and Food Security. These youths have threatened to stage a nationwide protest against Dr. Yumkella for misleading them.

“Even the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the NGC & the SLPP party before the 2023 elections, the only person that benefitted from the MoU is Dr. Yumkella,” Morieba Kallon alleged, furthering that, by describing the move of Yumkella as self-serving and not people focused. Morieba Kallon further alleged that, some of them laid their lives for the NGC party and Dr. Yumkella but all they received in return is betrayal. On behalf of his colleagues, Morieba Kallon has called on Dr.Yumkella to hold a national dialogue with them or else they will embark on nationwide protest.

All efforts made to get the response of Dr. Kandeh Yumkella have proven futile.
