3 Police Officers Dismissed
The head of CDIID in a press conference held at the Police Headquarter, informed journalists that three Police Officers have been found guilty of possession of huge quantity of Kush and have been expelled from the Sierra Leone Police Force.
Franklin Bayor, who doubles as the Chief Superintendent of Police and Head of Complain at the CDIID, disclosed that the Sierra Police had recently arrested three police officers in different locations with huge quantity of Kush, adding that, they were later charged to court and found guilty. For this reason, he stated that, the police officers were dismissed.
‘’Part 3 of the police act gives us the power to dismiss any police officer who is found guilty of certain crimes,’’ he said. Bayor further reaffirmed that all three of the police officers are OSDs. In fact, Bayor added that, the OSD Police who is in a video that is making the rounds on social media, that some youth shaved his head is among the three police officers that were dismissed.
Meanwhile, the Police force described the fight against illicit drugs especially Kush as a major threat in the country. Because of that, the Police called the attention of the public to help fight against Kush. Furthermore, they expressed reediness to work with National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDMLA) and other partners to ensure they eradicate Kush in the country.
Through visual connections, the Media Officer of the Sierra Leone Police at the North-West Region Paul Hassan Kamara informed about recent arrest of kush dealers in that part of the country.
As a way to fight against Kush in the North-West Region, he stated, the Police have organised community engagement, raids, and operations. He disclosed that the Police have arrested 52 culprits who are in possession of Kush in the region.
AIG Brima Kanneh of the Southern Region described Kush as a chain of work which is from the supplier to the consumer, adding that, the police had made major arrest in one of their check points and arrested a major dealer. He reiterated the need for community support in the fight against Kush. Kanneh further disclosed that the region has made 89 arrest, among the 89 is a woman who disguise by putting on Hijab to transport the Kush substance.
