Military Officer Dragged to Court for Fraud

Thirty-eight years old Captain Abu Bakarr Good Kamara, a military officer is standing trial before Magistrate Sahr Kekura of Pademba road court No.1 in Freetown, on six count charges ranging from obtaining money by false pretences contrary to section 32 (1) of the Larceny Act 1916.
According to the particulars of offence, on the 15th December 2021, at Hastings in the Waterloo Judicial District in the Western Area of Freetown with intent to defraud obtained the sum of four million three hundred and twenty-eight thousand Old Leones(Le4,328,000) equivalent to four thousand united states dollars from Mr and Mrs Bestman by falsely pretending that he has two town lots of land at Hastings for Sale, knowing same to be false.
On count two, on the 17th December 2021, on the above date and place, the accused person with intent to defraud obtained the sum of eight million, six hundred and ninety thousand old Leones(Le8,692,000) equivalent to eight hundred united state dollars from Mr and Mrs Samuel Bestman by falsely pretending that he has two tan lots of land at Hastings for Sale, knowing same to be false.
On count three, on the 23rd December 2021 at the above date, the accused person Obtained the sum of six million, nine hundred and seventy-eight old Leones(Le6,978,000) equivalent six hundred and forty-five United States dollars from the said complainant by falsely pretending that he has two town lots of land at Hastings for Sale knowing same to be false.
On count five, on the 6th January 2022, on the above date and place, the accused person with intent to defraud Obtained the sum of eight million and thirty-six thousand old Leones(Le8,036,000) equivalent to seven hundred and fifty-two United States dollars from Mr and Mrs Samuel Bestman by falsely pretending that he has two town lots land at Hastings for Sale, knowing same to be false.
On count five, on the 11th March 2022, on the above date and place, the accused person with intent to defraud obtained the sum of five hundred and sixty-five thousand old Leones (565,000) equivalent to five hundred United States dollars from the said complainant by falsely pretending that he has two town lots land at Hastings for Sale, knowing same to be false.
On count six, the accused person on the 21st March 2022 on the above date and place with intent to defraud obtained the sum of fifteen million and sixty-seven thousand old Leones (15,667,000) from Mr and Mrs Samuel Best man by falsely pretending that he has two town lots of land at Hastings for Sale knowing same to be false.
On his first appearance, the charges were read and explained to the accused person but he pleaded not guilty.
Magistrate Kekura adjourned the matter to the 26th March 2024 whilst the accused person is on bail.
