Orange-SL Appreciates Media For Contribution To Its Growth

On Friday 2 June 2023, Sierra Leone’s leading mobile operator, Orange SL, briefed the media about their activities for this year, at a ceremony held at their Head quarter office at Hill Station.

 

In her welcome address, Mabel Mason thanked the media for their tireless support to Orange, and that they will continue the good relationship which started a long time ago. She urged the media to continue to do their work, adding that they have done a lot in respect of their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).

 

In his keynote address, Deputy Chief Director, Bollor T. Sesay, said the role of the Media to the success of Orange Sierra Leone is important. He expressed appreciation God Almighty for granting all the will to congregate, maintaining that the media landscape in Sierra Leone has undergone tremendous changes over the past few decades, furthering that the emergence of new technologies has opened up opportunities for a more diverse and vibrant media. For Orange Sierra Leone, the media plays an important role in building brand awareness, connecting with customers, and achieving business goals.

 

“Firstly, the media is crucial for promoting Orange’s products and services to the public, and Orange relies on various media channels, such as television, radio, print, and online platforms to advertise its products & services. This media exposure helps inform potential customers about what Orange has to offer” he stated.

 

He reiterated that the media helps Orange to engage directly with existing customers and address issues they may have. Customers can reach out to Orange through social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter. The company also uses its website and customer service hotlines to interact with customers and resolve their queries in a timely manner. Through the media, Orange can monitor customers’ sentiments and gauge satisfaction with its products.

He noted that the media serves as a platform for Orange to promote its brand values and CSR initiatives. Orange, he continued, often partners with media houses to raise awareness on the social course that it supports, such as financial inclusion, women’s empowerment, and youth development. He maintained that this positive publicity through the media has helped strengthen Orange’s reputation and brand image in the eyes of the public.

 

He emphasized on the role the media plays as integral for the Orange SL’s business by enabling marketing and advertising, facilitating customer service, and boosting the company’s image and credibility. A well-thought-out media strategy will be crucial for Orange to achieve its business and social goals in Sierra Leone for years to come.

 

He furthered that the company will continue to leverage different media channels creatively and effectively to stay relevant and connected with customers

Danetta Younge, General Secretary, appreciated the commitment of the media for their accurate, reliable and timely dissemination of new to the public about the company. She added that the provision of up to date information and insightful analysis has contributed to making the public become well-informed about Orange’s products and the positive impact they are making in society.

Madam Younge furthered that the company upholds the ideals of the freedom of press, and keeps its members informed about their role, adding that they value their partnership with the media and are committed to working together with them.

She reiterated that they are ready to provide accurate news to their customers through the media. “In addressing the gap between social media fake news and facts, they still turn to the trusted news outlets and organizations to provide with unbiased and fact-based reporting. The relentless pursuit of the truth, coupled with unwavering commitment of good journalism is the beacon of hope for our company” she said.

She concluded by thanking the head of PR for his commitment and dedication, making particular reference to Mabel Mason, who has navigated various media challenges that have helped the company to grow.
