Police Dismisses Officer Discovered With 42 Wraps Of Kush
During a Press Conference held at the Police Head Quarters on Tuesday 17th January 2023, the Director of Professional Standards, AIG Kapri S. Kamara explained that one officer, Police Constable (PC) 12960 Ferenkeh Paul Turay, who was one of the personnel slated to leave for Somalia as part of the Formed Police Unit (FPU), was discovered with some 42 wraps of Kush, a dangerous drug that has been causing concern among citizens and the authorities over its abuse by young people. AIG Kapri Kamara furthered that the said officer has been handed over to the Criminal Investigations Department, its Transnational Organized Crime Unit (TOCU) for further investigations, and he has been charged to Court on same.
AIG Kapri also recalled how another matter involving another police officer, Edward Kamachande PC 20522, and OSD Officer stationed in Kailahun, resulted in his dismissal for possession of the same drug.He said that as a ‘Force For Good’, they will not tolerate officers that will tarnish the good image of the force. Kush, he furthered is a dangerous drug that is being abused by young people, and there are many video footages of such abusers. Thus, the action of the SLP is aimed at setting an example to deter any other from engaging in such practices.
