As they seek to give more support to the aged… DOFA Clocks Four Years Anniversary

In a bid to provide sustainable care for the aged, Dorwontony Organization for the Aged, has on Wednesday 2nd October 2024, at their precinct in Freetown celebrated its four years anniversary.
The Dorwontony Organization for the Aged seeks to provide valuable service for the aged.
The Chief Executive Officer of Dorwontony Organization for the Aged (DOFA), Madam Doreen Barrie, in her brief statement, told the gathering that the reason for the existence of the organization is to provide sustainable care for the aged across the country, adding by pledging that the organization seeks to treat the aged with dignity and respect. She continued by stating that every first Wednesday in the month, the organization renders free medical and breakfast for older people across the country.
The CEO for DOFA, Madam Barrie, said that the organization addresses issues relating to old age and also raise awareness to the general populace about the essence of prioritizing the needs of older people. Madam Barrie, further stated that the organization is supported by Sierra Leoneans but they are faced with numerous challenges to meet the needs of the older people. She continued by saying that the organization has succeeded in constructing six homes for the aged, providing toilet facility for them at Grafton, etc. On a yearly basis, she said that the organization normally distributes food stuff and clothing to old people across the country.
However, she said that the major challenge the organization is faced with is financial limitations. According to her, the organization wishes to extend its tentacles in the provinces but that could only be accomplished when there is adequate finance.
On this backdrop, she solicited the assistance of the government, NASSIT, and other benevolent organizations to join hands with DOFA to provide sustainable care for old people across the country.
She concluded her statement by appreciating all and sundry for contributing towards the success of the organization within the four years of existence.
On behalf of the Human Rights Commission of Sierra Leone, Mr. Abubakarr Kamara, in his brief statement, told the gathering that the commission wished to express its sincere appreciation to DOFA for its unwavering support to the old people across the country. Going further, he said that the commission is happy to join hands with DOFA in order to provide better care for old people across the country. He went on to say that old age is not a crime; thus, old people need to be cherished and respected irrespective of their achievement. He said that the commission has signed memorandum of understanding with DOFA. According to him, he said that the essence of the memorandum of understanding is to ensure that the need of old people is prioritized in the country.
The CEO for Healthcare for the Aged, Mr. Mohamed S. Bah, in his brief speech, applauded the effort of DOFA in providing valuable assistance to old people across the country. He said that old people are unique, and they are filled with wisdom and experience and it is imperative for them to be cared for. He concluded by saying that his organization would continue to work hand-in-glove with DOFA to see that old people are treated better in the country.
