By Our Staff Writer

Tongues are still wagging as to the reason or reasons that prompted His Excellency President Julius Maada Bio to dismiss the former Commissioner General of the National Revenue Authority (NRA), Mr. Ibrahim Brima Swaray.

Many people have considered Mr. Ibrahim Brima Swaray as a loyal, committed and fervent ‘Paopaist’ of the President Julius Maada Bio’s government. It is unarguable that Mr. Ibrahim Brima Swaray played a significant role in canvassing support for His Excellency President Julius Maada Bio during the fiercely contested 2023 June elections in not only in the ruling party’s stronghold but also in the strongholds of the main opposition APC party.

Most people believed that his appointment as the Commissioner General of the National Revenue Authority is a laudable one that will help to block the leakages towards the revenue generation drive of His Excellency President Julius Maada Bio’s led government in meeting the development aspirations in the five big game changers agenda of the ruling SLPP government.

Truth be said, before Mr. Ibrahim Brima Swaray was appointed as Commissioner General of the National Revenue Authority he has been a fine gentleman with an unblemished character whilst working as the head of the National Public Procurement Authority in which he succeeded in attracting several reforms that have led in blocking the leakages in the public procurement strata which many people believed that it was due to his diligent, astute, productiveness and result oriented that led His Excellency President Julius Maada Bio to appoint him to serve in the capacity as Commissioner General of the National Revenue Authority.

It is incontrovertible that at any stage, His Excellency President Julius Maada Bio just like his predecessors has the unfettered powers to hire and fire any presidential appointee.

However, his sudden dismissal leaves many questions than answers. See more details in our next edition.
