APC Drops Bombshell
Information reaching this medium from the corridors of the main opposition party have indicated that, the APC party is currently mounting pressure on the ruling SLPP party and other state actors with additional demands.
According to our sources that preferred anonymity, have disclosed that the APC party wants the release of all APC members, supporters and sympathizers that are currently in detention at both the Male and Female Correctional Centers nationwide. Furthering that, His Excellency President Julius Maada Bio gives directive to the heads of banks to unfreeze all accounts held in commercial banks by APC members, supporters and sympathizers. Also, all corruption cases against APC members, supporters and sympathisers to be discontinued and abandoned by the government. Our sources added that all travel restrictions placed on APC members and supporters to be lifted, adding that, all fugitive APC members, supporters and sympathisers to be allowed to return home and participate in party politics.
Although, the National Chairman of the All People’s Congress (APC) party, Alhaji Minkailu Mansaray has not comment on the issue but has reaffirmed the party’s position not to participate in their elective positions until their issues have been addressed. Hon. Minkailu Mansaray noted their commitment to remain law-abiding but registered their frustration over the attacks on their supporters by state authorities. He added that their recent engagement with the Inter-Religious Council and the Peace Commission is a testament of the fact that they are tolerant and law-abiding. He continued by mentioning the assassination attempt on their 2023 Presidential Candidate Dr. Samura Kamara right at their party headquarters in Freetown by describing it as a clear indication of intimidation, harassment and violations of human rights.
The chairman added that President Julius Maada Bio himself has exposed the Electoral Commission by calling for an independence body to look into the conduct of the elections. As a party, they will not fall for that ill motivated demand made by the leadership of the SLPP party but to still call for trusted individuals to investigate the process and they must be selected out of Sierra Leone.
The chairman made this disclosure last Tuesday at the party’s headquarters whilst addressing mourners of the late Hassan Dumbuya aka Evangelist Samson who was allegedly murdered by men in military uniforms in Makeni, Northern Province of the Republic of Sierra Leone.
APC spokesman Sidi Yayah Tunis told the VOA last week that they have no problem with President Bio and the SLPP. He said they have problems with the election management bodies including ECSL, PPRC and the security sector.
