Statistician General Excels at 56th UNSC
Sierra Leone’s Statistician-General, Andrew Bob Johnny, has been unanimously elected as the Rapporteur of the UN Statistical Commission for a two years’ tenure. The Rapporteur is a member of the Bureau of the Statistical Commission, charged with the responsibility of documenting, summarizing, and reporting on the discussions and decisions made during sessions of the UNSC. This prestigious position essentially therefore means that Mr. Johnny will be reporting on the commission’s sessions for 2024-2025, including key issues, proposed standards and agreed-upon actions related to international statistical best practices. This all-important position is normally entrusted to highly experienced Statisticians with profound expertise in international statistical standards and practices. Mr. Johnny’s election is a testament to his hard work and dedication to developing Sierra Leone’s National Statistics office, especially with innovation and technology in data collection methods to guarantee credible data for national development.
