SLPHA Spearheads Seizure Of 4 Containers of Tramadol
On 24 March 2026, a joint operation involving the Sierra Leone Ports and Harbours Authority (SLPHA), National Revenue Authority, Office of National Security, Pharmacy Board, and Sierra Leone Police successfully intercepted four containers carrying a total of 461 cartons of Tramadol and Tapentadol hydrochloride (225mg & 250mg) at the Freetown Terminal Limited precinct. The seizure followed a 100 percent joint examination of all incoming containers.
The importer of the apprehended containers has been confirmed as Jalim Bah Investment, located at 80 Fourah Bay Road, Freetown. The seized containers included:
Container 1 – HASU1264025: 100 cartons of Tramadol
Container 2 – MRKU6998749: 114 cartons of Tramadol
Container 3 – TCLU3516278: 147 cartons of Tramadol
Container 4 – SUDU7509283: 100 cartons of Tramadol
Total Seized: 461 cartons of Tramadol
The operation underscores the commitment of Sierra Leone’s security stakeholders to safeguard the nation’s ports and support national efforts to combat the illegal importation of controlled substances. The SLPHA, in collaboration with other security agencies, reaffirms its full support for government initiatives to prevent the entry of illicit drugs into the country.
