Magistrate Mustapha Braima Jah of Pademba Road Court No.1 has sentenced Musa Kambia to three years imprisonment for fraud. The accused was before the court on charges of obtaining money by false pretenses contrary to Section 32(1) of the Larceny Act of 1916.
According to the particulars of offence, the accused, on Saturday 11th April 2025 at Pademba Road in Freetown, with intent to defraud, obtained the sum of Twenty-Five Leones (NLe 25) from Christian Alphaso Gilo Blake by falsely pretending that he knew the whereabouts of her missing son, Charles Blake, knowing same to be false.
During the proceedings, the prosecution led witnesses, all of whom were cross-examined before the bench. Their testimonies, coupled with supporting evidence, established the case against the accused.
In his ruling, Magistrate Jah stated that the prosecution had proven its case beyond reasonable doubt and that the accused had deliberately deceived the complainant for financial gain. He emphasized that such acts undermine public trust and should not go unpunished.
He therefore sentenced Musa Kambia to three years imprisonment at the Male Correctional Centre in Freetown.
